This edited volume, to be published by Springer Nature in the Sustainability Solutions series, seeks contributions on innovative and sustainable approaches to wildfire mitigation and adaptation. We welcome interdisciplinary research integrating geospatial technologies, Indigenous and traditional fire practices, and climate resilience strategies. The volume aims to provide actionable insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers seeking context-specific, practical solutions for wildfire challenges worldwide.

We invite contributions addressing topics such as:

  • Wildfire risk assessment and mapping using geospatial tools
  • Early warning and monitoring systems
  • Community-led and Indigenous fire management practices
  • Climate adaptation strategies in fire-prone landscapes
  • Policy frameworks and governance for sustainable wildfire management

Topics are not limited; new perspectives aligned with the book’s themes are encouraged. We particularly encourage submissions from early career researchers and scholars from the Global South to ensure a diversity of perspectives and innovative approaches.

Tentative Structure:

  • Part I: Conceptualizing Wildfires in a Changing World
  • Part II: Geospatial Tools and Technologies
  • Part III: Indigenous and Local Fire Knowledge
  • Part IV: Climate Change, Policy, and Sustainable Fire Mitigation
  • Part V: Case Studies and Solutions-Oriented Approaches
  • Part VI: Conclusion and Future Paths

Submission Process:

Stage 1: Abstract Submission

  • Submit an abstract (max. 200 words) along with the title, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact email(s) to book.1@gmail.com and phd2101161005@iiti.ac.in.
  • Deadline: 30 November 2025
